Southern Africa builds a vertical
The victory on elections will give to ANC the rights to change the constitution.
Yesterday’s parliamentary elections in the republic of South Africa, predictably brought the convincing victory to «African national congress» (ANC) who governs in Southern Africa since apartheid cancellation. However the opposition is afraid that management of ANC led by Jacob Zumoj can take advantage of a victory to change the constitutional country organisation. World crisis can give to the new government a chance to start centralize the power in the republic of South Africa.

The official results of elections to National assembly, the lower chamber of parliament of the republic of South Africa, will be announced tomorrow. But last night the data of exc-po confirmed the forecasts of the majority of analysts:« The African national congress » collects from 67 to 69 % of chairs in parliament. Leader of ANC, Jacob Zuma according to the constitution of the republic of South Africa becomes the president of the country for next five years.
During all election campaign, the opposition warned that if ANC will collect two thirds of votes in parliament, the government of Zuma will make an attempt to change the constitution of the republic of South Africa, to transform the country from parliamentary republic in presidential and to limit the powers of provinces. The mayor of Capetown and the leader of «Democratic alliance», the union of white and colour minority of the republic of South Africa, Helen Zille constructed the whole campaign under the slogan «Lets stop Zuma — rescue the constitution ». The same time Mosua Lekota also told about «the threat to the constitutional system», who is the leader of «National Congress» who set up on one’s own from ANC in 2008, the former Minister of Defence of the republic of South Africa.
The Deputy director of Institute of Africa of the Russian Academy of Science Vladimir Shubin considers all cautions of opposition as pre-election demagogy.« ANC governs in the republic of South Africa since 1994, since the first general election after apartheid cancellation, — reminded the expert of RBC to daily. — The party participated in process of constitution acceptance of the country in 1996, so they has no needs in its changing». Mr. Shubin added that in leaving parliament, ANC held the majority in two third of chairs and nevertheless they didn’t even to do so.
However the world economic crisis imposes the specificity on present elections in the republic of South Africa.« Since apartheid was canceled and came really general election, Southern Africa was in a condition of economic rising, — told the analyst of London Chatham House Thomas Kargill. — People got used to gradual but steady increase of the standard of living and they connects those changes with ANC ».
In days of economic prosperity the government of ANC supported the high level of social protection, providing to 18 million persons from 49 million population of the country with the state social benefits. The state budget of the republic of South Africa for 2010 is imposed with deficiency in 3,8 % to gross national product that is the worst indicator during more than 10 years. It is not excluded that for overcoming of crisis ANC will go on introduction of elements of state regulation of economy that in same time will demand centralisation of the political power in the republic of South Africa.
