The year 2009 has seen some most discouraging time in aviation history and hence the travel and tourism industry around the world. Increase in high-octane fuel prices lead to increasing airfares where high recession decreased the number of travelers to less than half. This resulted in serious losses to the airline companies. Many got bankrupt while for others it was widely believed that they would go bankrupt. Even an upscale carrier like Belleview had to cease their operations temporarily in July 2009.

Only very strong and demanded airlines could keep going during those hard times. One of these airlines was Ghana International Airline. The credit goes to the marketing plan of the airline as well as the beauty and attraction of Ghana. This airline kept on operating successfully by providing direct cheap flights to Accra. Other airlines such as Afriqiayah Airways and Egypt Airways also provided low airfares to Accra. Nevertheless, they could not be preferred over Ghana International Airlines as both of them reach Accra indirectly. Hence they took far longer to reach Ghana. Time is something very important to the travelers. Adding to this, the quality of their services could not do better than that of Ghana International Airlines. Compared to Afriqiayah Airways and Egypt Airways, Ghana International Airlines received the least amount of complaints regarding loss of baggage or delays in flights. Although Ghana International Airlines charged more than Afriqiayah Airways and Egypt Airways, through a comparison between ticket fares, time of flight and quality of service, Ghana International Airline turned out to be the most successful.

2009 also saw a lot of chaos and confusion on the airports. It was the time when things were turning out unexpectedly awful and holidays were turning out into nightmares. Many times, the connecting flights to the next airport were either not found or cancelled and the travelers had to fly back home from mid-way. While at other times, the services paid for, were never offered. Hence the world wide economic recession together with hike in high-octane prices discouraged travelers. Aviation industry world over seemed to be in a state of emergency. Inflation in travel industry was constantly rising.

The International Air Transport Association Conference was held in Kuala Lumpur July 2009. There, these issues were brought under discussion. Hike in high-octane prices, low buying power of tickets and all the problems facing the travel industry were highlighted. As a result, the travel industry saw a relief in December. Different airlines took different strategies and things got slightly better. For Ghana International Airline, it was predicted that the airline may go bankrupt and be dissolved. The prediction was proved wrong when in December too, Ghana International Airlines was one of the successfully operating airlines. It was during this time that the airline sold almost all of its economy-class tickets. Since then it is widely believed that if Ghana International Airline keeps on working at the same pace, it will soon to be a healthy competition for many other airline services around the globe.

In 2010, the taxes on ticket fares are likely to rise but not more than that of July 2009. Hence the airline is expected to survive well in this situation. Airlines like Ghana International Airline have made getting cheap flights to Africa and easy task and so, a holiday in the exotic continent.

Employees of external investigation Service of Russian Federation revere the memory of legendary Soviet intelligence agent Africa de Las Eras well-known as “Patrija”, informed to RIA News the head of Press department of external investigation Service Sergey Ivanov.
He reminded that on April, 26th is 100 years anniversary from the day of birth of “Patrii” - the person of unique destiny and the charming woman.
Africa de Las Eras is a legendary Soviet intelligence agent.
As Sergey Ivanov told, in lines of her biography there were war in Spain, fighting operations in guerrilla group in days of the second World War, Twenty years of work in the countries of Latin America as the illegal agent and many years of sincere love to our country which became her second Native land.

“In total in the Soviet agencies of state security she gave to service more than 45 years”, - said Ivanov.
Africa de Las Eras was born on April, 26th, 1909 in the city of Ceuta (Morocco). The father gave an unusual name to his daughter in honour of the African continent which sheltered him and his family. Till 1923 she studied in Madrid’s college, then continued her education at monastic school in the city of Melilla.
In the middle of 1933 Africa went to Spain, worked in Madrid on a cotton-mill, joined the ranks of communist party and soon took part in preparation of miner’s revolt in a province of Asturia. Carried out the most dangerous orders like distribute the weapon and communication between various groups of the risen. After revolt suppression she was more than a year on illegal position. With the beginning of civil war in Spain in 1936 Africa left to a front line to fight on the side of republicans.
In 1937 in Spain Africa started to co-operate with the Soviet intelligence agency, carried out its special tasks. Then in operative correspondence started to call her as “Patrija” that in a translation from Spanish means “Native land”. She left to the USSR and obtained the Soviet citizenship.
In days of the Great National War “Patrija” became radio operator intelligence-diversionary group “Winners”of a special purpose which ordered by Dmitry Medvedev. From time to time Africa had to participate in war operations of the group, to show boldness and courage at performance of tasks of command.
In the summer of 1944 the former guerrilla becomes the employee of intelligence. Besides Spanish language Africa knew French and Russian languages. In 1947 the Center made decision to send “Patriju” to one of the countries of Latin America. So that is how started the most complicated “business trip” in which she worked for 20 years. All this time intelligence agent successfully carried out responsible tasks of the Center.
“After she returned to Soviet Union in 1967 “Patrija” concentrated her work on preparation of young intelligence officers for illegal work. She helped her pupils to improve knowledge of Spanish language, acquainted with the norms of behaviour in different situations. She called her pupils as my children,” - told Ivanov.
He also informed us, how her former pupils responded about “Patrija”. “In the seventies I studied with her the regional geography and polishing of Spanish language. Meetings and close dialogue with her convinced me that ” Patrija ” was remarkable person and magnificent instructor”, - Ivanov gave us a word of one of her schoolgirls.
In 1976 for merits before our country the Decree of presidium of the Supreme Consil of the USSR Africa de Las Eras was awarded to the Order of Lenin. She also was awarded to the Order of Great National War of II-nd degree, two awards of the Red Star, many medals, including - two medals “For courage”, a breastplate “the Honourable employee of a state security”.
In 1985 the colonel de Las Eras at the age of 75 years retired. Has died on March, 8th, 1988.

The victory on elections will give to ANC the rights to change the constitution.
Yesterday’s parliamentary elections in the republic of South Africa, predictably brought the convincing victory to «African national congress» (ANC) who governs in Southern Africa since apartheid cancellation. However the opposition is afraid that management of ANC led by Jacob Zumoj can take advantage of a victory to change the constitutional country organisation. World crisis can give to the new government a chance to start centralize the power in the republic of South Africa.

The official results of elections to National assembly, the lower chamber of parliament of the republic of South Africa, will be announced tomorrow. But last night the data of exc-po confirmed the forecasts of the majority of analysts:« The African national congress » collects from 67 to 69 % of chairs in parliament. Leader of ANC, Jacob Zuma according to the constitution of the republic of South Africa becomes the president of the country for next five years.

During all election campaign, the opposition warned that if ANC will collect two thirds of votes in parliament, the government of Zuma will make an attempt to change the constitution of the republic of South Africa, to transform the country from parliamentary republic in presidential and to limit the powers of provinces. The mayor of Capetown and the leader of «Democratic alliance», the union of white and colour minority of the republic of South Africa, Helen Zille constructed the whole campaign under the slogan «Lets stop Zuma — rescue the constitution ». The same time Mosua Lekota also told about «the threat to the constitutional system», who is the leader of «National Congress» who set up on one’s own from ANC in 2008, the former Minister of Defence of the republic of South Africa.

The Deputy director of Institute of Africa of the Russian Academy of Science Vladimir Shubin considers all cautions of opposition as pre-election demagogy.« ANC governs in the republic of South Africa since 1994, since the first general election after apartheid cancellation, — reminded the expert of RBC to daily. — The party participated in process of constitution acceptance of the country in 1996, so they has no needs in its changing». Mr. Shubin added that in leaving parliament, ANC held the majority in two third of chairs and nevertheless they didn’t even to do so.

However the world economic crisis imposes the specificity on present elections in the republic of South Africa.« Since apartheid was canceled and came really general election, Southern Africa was in a condition of economic rising, — told the analyst of London Chatham House Thomas Kargill. — People got used to gradual but steady increase of the standard of living and they connects those changes with ANC ».

In days of economic prosperity the government of ANC supported the high level of social protection, providing to 18 million persons from 49 million population of the country with the state social benefits. The state budget of the republic of South Africa for 2010 is imposed with deficiency in 3,8 % to gross national product that is the worst indicator during more than 10 years. It is not excluded that for overcoming of crisis ANC will go on introduction of elements of state regulation of economy that in same time will demand centralisation of the political power in the republic of South Africa.
