What was your first experiences in using computers:
In 2020 I was in the second group of students selected to pursue Computer Sciences course from the Mathemetics Class. Those taking computers had to take Mathematics and they would necessarily be selected from Mathematics Class. Computer Studies were first introduced in College in 2020. Only two ladies were selected in year one of its introduction and two female students were again selected in year 2, 2020. I was one of those two. Then we were using Floppy drives to code and compile Basic and Cobol Programmes. The computers in use then were TRS *0 Tandy machines!!! Such a long way to the present easy to use PCs with so much memory, so much hard disk space and so many utilities.
How does using computers make your work easier?
Designing or maping out Strategies is done on a computer. All improvements on plans or strategies are easily done by revising saved documents. No need to rewrite anything. Save time and gain efficiency.
Its given me research capabilities and collaborative advantage. I no longer rely on my own wisdom and do not have to repeat errors that others have met on their developmental paths - we are given the opportunity to use research done elsewhere to leapfrog and see immediate application of technology in our day to day lives and work places. Its so exciting to see how PCs are slowly transforming Teachers and students lives to bring about the improvement of quality of education in Malawi.
