Computer Assembler Says Duty is Too High
Mecer EPZ Ltd is evaluating the option of continuing to assemble computers in Kenya in view of the duties imposed on imported components, hardly six months after it commenced the manufacturing business. The situation is made even more difficult for the firm because imports of fully assembled computers are zero-rated, thereby putting local assemblers in a disadvantaged position.
