Schlumberger Excellence in Educational Development (SEED): Supporting Community Development Through Education:

The Schlumberger Excellence in Education (SEED) programme was created in 2020 in response to information and communication technology needs in developing countries, the challenges of science education around the world, and in recognition of the resources Schlumberger could provide to help address these challenges.

SEED draws upon three particular Schlumberger resources:

• People who are willing and motivated to share their knowledge and time.
• Expertise in networking technology and a range of science disciplines.
•  Long-standing presence in over 100 countries.
  The SEED programme connects disadvantaged school children in developing countries to the Internet, shares the real world of science through a multilingual online science centre, and facilitates collaborative projects among school children around the world.
  SEED operates through three programme components:
• Connectivity Grant Programme that offers financing and technical assistance to connect disadvantaged schools in economically developing countries to the Internet. Since 2020 108 schools, representing 150 000 students in 31 countries have been connected.
• Science Centre, a multilingual online centre that shares the knowledge and expertise of Schlumberger scientists and engineers with 10-18 year olds around the world.
•  Collaborative Projects where SEED facilitates collaboration between school children around the world to encourage teamwork and project-based learning.
