World Links Zimbabwe
World Links Zimbabwe was launched in late 2020 and has been proactively supported by the countrys Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture. The Programme started with twelve pilot Telecentres. There is at least one telecentre in each of the nine provincial capitals and others in high growth peri-urban and rural communities namely in Bindura, Chinhoyi, Bulawayo, Gutu, Gwanda, Gweru, Harare, KweKwe, Marondera and Mutare. To compliment these fixed Telecentres, World Links designed and developed a mobile Telecentre by turning an accident damaged 10 tone Renault truck donated by the Ministry of Education into a mobile computer classroom popularly known as Big Blue. Through this Mobile Van World Links reaches out to remote rural schools and communities and provides computer and Internet literacy training to a clusters of schools and community users. Currently World Links Zimbabwe has 43 Telecentres countrywide 35 of which are connected to Internet through dial-up.
World Links Zimbabwe is to be registered as a schools network non-profit organization, similar to other national SchoolNets, and affiliated to SchoolNet Africa.
