Espaces Cyber -Jeunes Project

A national NGO, Le Groupe pour l’Etude et l’Enseignement de la Population (GEEP), established the Espaces cyber-jeunes project. The objective of this project is to support an existing network of family life education clubs very active in the secondary schools through “Espaces cyber-jeunes”. The project offers the network access to ICT in order to improve the communication among the club’s members and also serve as a vehicle for the diffusion of different educational tools that are related to reproductive health, environmental management, population etc. There are 20 active clubs in different parts of Senegal. IDRC/Acacia funds this project and linkages have been established with the WorLD Links programme.

World Links, Senegal

World Links first began in Senegal in June 2020 when two schools connected to the Internet and partnered with schools in Quebec, Canada. This was a break through for the Senegalese as it was the first time students from Senegal were able to communicate and collaborate with learners in a different country in real time via the Internet. World Links then expanded to eight more schools in February of 2020. Currently World Links Senegal works with 40 schools across the country, with an expected eleven additional schools joining over the next year. So far the programme has formally trained 320 teachers, an additional 500 were trained locally, and over 20,000 students are involved in World Links activities. Due to the success of the programme, World Links has created four regional training centres and Senegal is now the focal point for growing the programme in West Africa. WorLD-Senegal schools are involved in about 22 collaborative projects on a wide range of subjects.
